What is a wine club?
A wine club is a community of wine lovers who enjoy a bottle of good wine then and there. Modern wine clubs offer more than just cheap alcohol and discounts. They are usually run by sommeliers and other knowledgeable team members who tend to find the best deals on high-quality wines from around the world. You will get exclusive access to new releases and some limited editions. If you are looking for some rare and exclusive bottles of wine, look for a wine club with a more rigorous bottle selection process. And for more excitement, you can try a blind tasting. You will receive wine bottles wrapped in an unlabeled tissue paper, as well as the instructions on how you should taste them. Some wine clubs also organise winery tours, special events, and gathering for their members. Not only you will learn more about wine on these events, but you will also get to know other wine lovers with whom you can share your insights.
What wine club subscriptions are available in general (types of wine, frequency)?
Most wine companies offer a choice of all red, all white, or mixed wine cases. They are usually delivered every 1, 2, or 3 months, depending on the case size and your desired delivery frequency. Adjust your wine subscription according to your needs and taste, so that you have enough time to taste the wines in your case but also to never end up with an empty wine rack.
Which companies offer wine club subscriptions?
Laithwaite's Wine offers three wine plans to choose from. Season's Reds, Season's Whites, and Season's Favourites (if you prefer a mix of both). Your next case will arrive in 12 weeks, but you can change this to 4 or 8 weeks. You can also make monthly payments into your Rewards account (starting at £30) and use these payments when placing an order. With every case of 12 bottles of wine (or more), you will get a free bottle (worth over £10), as well as free delivery. Check out the Laithwaite's Wine website for 'Wine of The Month' and a full selection of wines for the current month.
Naked Wines offers a WineWizard service, a wine club for people who do not have the time to create their own wine cases. All you have to do is sign up, and decide how often you would like to get your bundle of seasonal wines delivered (every 1, 2 or 3 months) and how many bottles you would like (12, 15, or 18). Choose between Every Day Wines, Sweet Spot Wines, and Luxury Wines, and Naked Wines team members will pick the wines to match your taste. You can also become one of the Naked Wines Angels. All you have to do is invest from £20 a month into your Naked Wines account, spend them on any of the wines, whenever you want, and with every purchase, you will save up to 33% on your order. You will also get a free premium bottle with your wine case (once a month), as well as access to exclusive wines and invitations to tasting events. Some customers will be offered a 'Try Before You Buy' option on their welcome case, as well as on their ongoing cases. This means that you will receive your case and be charged only for the delivery (if applicable). Once you try out the wines from your case, you should rate them (by giving them a thumbs up or a thumbs down). For every wine that gets a thumbs down from you, Naked Wines will reduce the price of the total to pay. They will also make sure you never again receive this wine or anything similar.
Tannico, the world’s largest Italian wine shop, has a little different concept than the others. To get access to its exclusive member-only deals, you must first sign up as a member on its website. Once you log in to your account, you can shop from their varied selection of wines.
How old do you need to be to take out a wine club subscription?
When placing your order at Laithwaite's Wine or Naked Wines website, you will have to confirm your date of birth as part of their commitment to responsible drinking. You should be at least 18 years old to place an order. Please also note that it is against the law for persons over the age of 18 to buy or attempt to buy intoxicating liquor for persons under the age of 18. A courier can request some form of ID if in doubt of the age of the recipient of an order.
What type of wine club deals are available for new customers?
Laithwaite's Wine, Tannico, and Naked Wines all offer wine club deals for new customers. Laithwaite's Wine has an amazing wine club introductory offer. Order your first wine case, and not only you will save £65 (and more), but you will also get 2 Dartington Crystal stemless glasses, free of charge. Delivery is also free! And after joining a Tannico wine club, you will receive a discount code via email. This code is valid when ordering for the first time. And once you answer 3 simple questions on Naked Wines' website, you will get some free wine with your first order. Online beverage stores, including Adnams, Skinny Booze, Deliveroo, Uber Eats, and 31Dover, also deliver wine and have some amazing deals for new customers. They all offer a discount on your first order (or first 4 orders, like Deliveroo).
How does a wine club subscription work?
After you get a wine club subscription, you will receive your first case of wine, as well as some educational and tasting notes. Try it out and enjoy a glass of good wine every now and then until your next case arrives. A wine company will do all the work for you. No more spending hours in supermarkets and wine or liquor stores, deciding which bottle to buy. Selected bottles will be delivered right to your door, so you would not have to drag them from one part of the town to another. However, although the company chooses and delivers the wines, you are still the one who is in control of your wine club subscription. You can change not only the whole wine club subscription but also swap individual wines in your case.
Can you cancel your wine club subscription at any time?
Yes, you can cancel your wine club subscription at any time. Once you decide a certain wine club is not any more for you, you can contact the company and cancel your subscription. Wine clubs also give you the ability to manage the frequency of your delivery as well as your delivery date. You will be advised shortly before your case is due for delivery so you can delay it if needed. The company will usually confirm not only the delivery date but the wines in the case and their price, as well.
Can you give a wine club membership as a gift?
Laithwaite's Wine does not offer an option of giving a wine club membership as a gift but has a varied selection of wine gifts you can give for different occasions. When shopping for wine bottles and accessories from Naked Wines, you can select if your order is a gift order. You can add a gift message that will be on the box in a sealed gift label for the gift recipient to read and enjoy. Any billing information or price will not be included in the case.
Why should you join a wine club?
When you join a wine club, you will not only benefit from the wine club introductory offer but will get some regular discounts and member perks, as well. As a member of the wine club, you will no longer have to worry about stocking up your wine rack with the wine you will love. A wine subscription company will take care of selecting the wines and delivering them right to your doorstep. Wine club members also get early access to new releases, as well as exclusive access to limited edition wine bottles. From time to time, you may even receive a free wine bottle or a surprise such as a free Christmas case. Many wine clubs also organise events (winery tours, wine tastings, and others) for their members.
